G. Emrah Sönmez was born in 1976. He started animation at Denge Animasyon, Ankara in 1996. Until 2001 in Denge Animasyon he worked on many projects, for Germany "Petzi and Friends" for America "Beach Dogs," "Ostrich Elvis" and "Macho Man", for France "Children of Toromiro", for Spain "Atrezzo" and for Denmark "Gorax "and" Hack Mack " television series; as animator, layout supervisor, storyboard artist and project chef of studio.
Made illustrations for books published by the Ministry of Education in the school years and took the first prize with his illustrations for the primary education book series based on "Mimar Sinan" 's life.
In 2003, after graduating with a degree from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Graphic Fine Arts Department he moved to İstanbul. As an independent animator, supervisor, illustrator, art director and director he produce, "Little Bush" television series for American - Comedy Central, "HIV" short anmation film for the World Health Organization , "Story of Olive "the feature film project for Soudi Arabia. At the same period for rock band Duman he animated the official music video" Belki Alışman Lazım ". Worked in different commercials like Lider Plastic , Orkid, and Gizia , as art director, concept designer and director.
His military career was in the special class of the Ankara Military Academy as graphic artist lieutenant.
Since 2007, the real television series and movie projects also take place in Sonmez's career. In Egyptian movie "The Dealer" he worked as production designer. For Turkish Radio Television TRT in 2008-2009 he manage the production of TV series "Ayrılık" and draw storyboards for specific war scenes. In 2010 for the feature film "Being Italian with Signora Enrica" with lead actress Claudia Cardinale, he draw the storyboards and took place in production as Production Designer. He designed the TV series for TRT Children "Kitty In The City" and " Serçe Kuş" , drew the storyboards and made the concept designs.
In 2013 he directed his first movie "Çilek" with lead actress Azra Akın.
He still produces animation series, movies, TV shows and commercials for different companies in Turkey and different countries in Europe .
